    Registration Question

Hey calguns! I have a quick 2 part question.

My dad bought an over/under from a co-worker some 20+ years ago, and apparently it isn't registered to his name because it wasn't required to register long guns at the time.

My first question is: Is it true that registration wasn't required for long guns back then, or is my dad just dumb?

Second: How would i go about registering it? Take it to an FFL and do a background check and such?

    Thanks for the input!!

New long gun purchases didn't need to be registered until January 1 of 2014. It doesn't end to be registered unless it is sold.

      ^^^^^^this

Back then it was " Cash and Carry".

I love the fact that gas stations or hardware, or liquor stores shelved guns. You could buy a shotgun right alongside a can of paint. No questions asked.

Why would you want to register a shotgun that already belongs to you?
