I think this concerns us all.

Would suck if this technology was mandated on shotguns along with pistols eventually.

What's to say it wouldn't? Just because pistols are the first test-bed of it, there's nothing intrinsic to the tech that would restrict it to pistols only. I fear that if this becomes successful with pistols, then it would only be a matter of time before we see it applied to rifles and shotguns.

Maybe they didn't sell any because no one would buy them, either way it's too late now to start back peddling.

It's pretty easy to see what happened here. There is no doubt in my mind that Oaktree is culpable, and that they are more interested in their profits than they are in protecting our 2A rights. Sure, they backed away from it before they sold one of these guns, but only after they realized their profits would be affected if they went ahead.

The only question now is exactly how much damage have they done.

If the media has played anyone, it's Jim Mitchell and Oaktree. He and his business should pay the price for him opening his mouth and talking to the press, regardless of what else he did or did not do. I tend to believe where there is smoke there is fire.

As for me, I have other ranges where I shoot that are much closer to me than Oaktree, so I'm not being played for anything.

That is my thinking as well. In fact it could be easier to apply than handguns. And if you fancy crafting your own firearm to current safety standards that include this, well forget it.
