Cheap Clays! $8@Walmart

Just to let you everyone know, Turners has clay (white flyer) targets on sale for $8, but unfortunately it's out of stock in most stores.

However, just take an ad to a Walmart near a Turners and they will price match it. I did this the other day. I know its only two bucks but who doesn't like shooting clay targets, buy 4 boxes and that's $8 in your pocket.

How do you get them to price match. ?

Just bring them a Turners AD, a paper copy, and the cashier will price match, as long as there is a Turners in the general area

I'm not sure if it was bad luck or what but when I bought a case of the White Flyer biodegradable clays from Walmart, many of the clays in the box were already broken and quite a number of those would not launch properly when used on the manual trap machine at Los Altos. They would simply disintegrate when you launch them.

I've since stopped buying those clay targets from Walmart and buy them at the range. It is more expensive but if you factor in the breakage, they're about the same or slightly cheaper at the range.

The Walmart I bought my case from is Milpitas, it might just be my bad luck but if you can, buy it from other Walmarts just to be safe. It could also be that the workers are are a lot more careless and simply throw those boxes around and breaking many of the clays in the box.

I'd also open the box's right there and inspect them prior to purchase. They will let you as long as you will buy them. Even when doing this (flashlight helps) you will still probably end up with some broken ones on the bottom.

I usually just buy the 135ct case from the range to avoid the headache and I rarely have a broken one in the ones I buy from the range.

I have never had broken ones from walmart that has more than 3 broken ones in a case.

try to buy them off the pallet instead of shelf. Maybe wally employess are throwing them.

Sorry I started the thread late, but the sale is over at Turners.

As for quality of clays at Walmart you can usually tell when brokens ones are in the box with a little shake. I only had about 5 broken clays out of 6 boxes.

This link shows another great way to use clays. Comes out to $15 shipped and it is great, much more fun than paper targets.

Get the yellow ones. Trust me on this!

Even though they show them being hung on rope, I highly suggest using some sort of rod. The weight of the clays on rope can be a little too much if it's not taught. I use a 5/16" threaded rod on my stand and it works like a champ.
