Wrong. They are required to collect Use tax. Don't know about the Military shops as I have not shipped to one in CA. I ship guns to all 50 states and in 49 of them I can send a weapon directly to an LEO's department providing I get the proper letter head and it is a duty weapon. Not CA. They have to go to an FFL so the state can collect the fees and taxes.

Use tax is susposed to be collected. Anyone thinking this is wrong can simply contact your Department of Treasury and you find that it is correct. So what I am saying is that if your dealer is not doing this then stop putting his business out there where anyone can see, as these sites are monitored for key words and I am betting the term Sales Tax is one and Use Tax is another because your state is anti gun and gets it's spits and giggles shuting down gun shops.

I would also sugest you do check with your Deptarment of Treasury because if they are not required as Artema says then where is all that money going that shops are collecting? Are those dealers ripping you off and putting it in their pockets? If you have had a gun come in and paid the use tax you should want to know how what is right. So contact Treasury and tell us what they say.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

Isn't that because most things, if not everything is tax free on a military base? You're not comparing apples to apples.

I never said otherwise, but I was stating that there ARE exemptions where others were claiming I was 100% wrong.

Artema - so what is it that you are now saying? Only the Military bases are exempt but all other dealers in the state are not. My post had nothing to do with Military bases only CA gun shops that have to collect a use tax. Military bases never entered the disscussion. Not sure why you claim I am posting FUD. Not sure what FUD is but assume it was some kind of insult and claim that what I posted was wrong.

If you now agree that the CA state law requires shops to collect sales/use tax you can clear that up for the readers. No need to apologize for the FUD comment because I know that what I posted was correct.
