hmmm, thanks Michael.. I looked through the link you sent and have decided against sending MAX100 money for nothing. Too bad.

While i'm on the subject... I've just been trying to buy a mag extension that will be flush with a remington 870 18in barrel or 18.5 as I read also.. I dont know why it has to be so confusing. So is it an 18in or 18.5in barrel and which mag ext will be flush? thanks!!

Depends on the age of the barrel. Remington no longer makes 18" barrels so if your weapon is from the last six years or so it is an 18.5". The Remington LE 2 shot extension ends flush with the 18.5" barrel. That is the only one that I am aware of but there could be others.

The Wilson-Combat 2-shot extension seems to be the recommended one. It is not completely flushed but it looks great on photo:

I found a guy who posted a picture of his 870 with a 18.5 inch barrel and a +2 remington mag ext and it is flush. I bought my 870 new about 2 months ago, but with the 28in barrel. So you're saying that all the new 870 barrels are going to be the 18.5?

Where would I buy one of those? I've been on google for an hour and cant find one. Remington doesnt even list them on their website.

aippi, what is your opinion on the Wilson Combat extension as far as how it doesn't use a barrel clamp?

No, not all all 870 are going to be 18.5" as they make 110 barrels for the 12ga 870. I am saying they stopped making the 18". I just got a list of available barrels from my Remington Rep and even on this list made up this week it shows 18" barrels, yet they grow 1/2" from the time they leave the factory and get to you. Look at some of the new 870's in the guns shop. The box says 18" barrel but they barrel is 18.5" as they have not changed the stickers in over six years. The Remington parts list shows a mix of 18.5" barrels and 18" barrels because they have not even update the parts list in all this time except to change the prices every year.

To me the Wilson is the best value out there. The mag tube coupling is stand alone so it doesn't need a barrel bracket. Brackets mar barrels and extension so if not needed, don't use one.
