    Mossberg 930 JM Pro Disappointment

I've had several failures to feed from the magazine tube that is seemingly a common problem with 930s. It's relatively common to get an aftermarket follower or just chamfer the stock POS. I believe the problem can vary depending upon your follower (how well the leading/following edges are beveled, and how well the follower centers the shell).

here's what my magazine tube + extension looks like -- the red arrow shows where the magazine tube edge doesn't meet the extension tube at all. You can stick a rod down there and feel it easily. Running the follower through by itself without a spring will always bind.

It appears to be a problem with the magazine tube and not the aftermarket extension -- you can rotate the extension and the protrusion stays in the same position. It looks like the threads on the magazine tube for the extension are not concentric with the actual magazine. Also, the inside diameter of the extension looks to be slightly larger than the magazine.

Really disappointed -- I've only emailed Mossberg and really don't expect much and don't want to ship the thing. Definitely can't trust this gun for HD (yes, I know, MOST of you wouldn't want a 24" shotgun for HD).

Mossberg has excellent CS, just call them.

I've found this problem with mine as well. Rather than griping or calling Mossberg CS, I brought out the old Dremel tool and went to work on the stock follower by chamfering the sharp edges. I also took the Dremel to the magazine tube edge and chamfer that as well. Then I lubed it generously with Remlube. It now works fine. I'm able to get 8rnds in and 8rnds out with no issues.(JM Pro 22")

My HD gun is an 870

Honestly, this is what I'd do as well. I hate dealing with gun companies and their frustrating CS.

A lot of shotguns have to be modified to work efficiently with aftermarket magazine tube extensions... whether it be an actual issue or standard procedure during installation. I remember having to Dremel the dimples on my old 870 Police to get the Choate extension to work properly. Just make sure you use the proper bit and work SLOWLY so you don't over-do it!

I personally hate taking a Dremel tool to anything as it seems like you're just butchering it, but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.
