the wooden 870

I finally came up close and personal with a 870-look-a-like with all the wooden hardware. I must say, I love them. Thanks OPD!

Well, I just jumped the gun too early with another 870 18"er. I would like to know how to convert it into those wooden ones OPD has. Do I just dig up any wood parts on ebay? What model are those wooden ones? 870s? Wingmaster? 11-87?

Third, the 870 w/o the wood isnt a 870 IMHO, mine has a police barrel in 80s
wingmaster blue, I ordered mine when the ol man was station in Germany so it has the same proof markings as a P7 or any other firearms made in the country.....pretty cool IMHO.

So the one I saw isn't a 870, but looks like a 870 right? And is called the wingmaster blue?

You can take the synthetic stock and forearm off a 870P and put wood on it. The wood is probably available from Numerich, or I'm sure you can find it if you look around.

If you're asking about changing a synthetic stocked version to wood; they are all interchageable. And you could probaly get a good deal from someone wh went from wood to synthetic.
Here's a pic of a Sportsman 12 Pump in wood. It's an old Kmart version of an 870, everything interchanges.

I have used a piece of galvanized pipe. just larger than the tube, on a grinder grind down the sides just leavin two spurs on 180 degree ends that will fit into the notches on the forend nut. I had to make one because I did not want to wait for a real one. It took less tha 5 minutes to make and I still use it occasionally for cleaning.

These guys are great for used and newer stocks and forends.

I use a needle nose pliers to take off the forend. Just spread the pliers and put the tips into where the spanner would go and turn, hopefully it is not too tight.
