Remington HD ultimate home defense rounds

Anyone have any experience with these? I picked up a box of 10 that was marked down from $25 to $10 at a Bass Pro awhile back. Never shot any of them. Can't seem to find any YouTube videos with any real information on it either.

In my informal desert testing I came to the conclusion they are crap. Lol
Out of my 590 the spread was large and it didn't penetrate very deep into a dry phonebook. I just stick with 8 shells Critical Defense 00 with 4 slugs in my speed-feed for worst case scenarios.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Though it does sound like they may not be the worst option in the highly unlikely event of being in a worst case scenario in a relatively small apartment with small children living next door.

I have never used those before, seems like they're just larger birdshots? And wow...$10 for a box of 10? Seems very expensive.

You should take it out to the range and pattern it according to your home defense distance. It'll let you know what is the spread like. I like using indoor range for this purpose because 25 yards is plenty for HD distance and indoor range allows me to set target at specific distance easily without having to wait for cease fire.

Most apartments are very flimsily built however, I won't recommend relying on the walls to stop any stray shots from your shotshell, even birdshots. So be very careful if you have to shoot, maybe put some strategic backstops around the house. I use bookshelves, some people think it odd that I have fully stocked bookshelf on the wall next to my door. It is actually a backstop in case I have shoot inside the house at people forcing entry, and also somewhere for me to take cover just in case I need to shoot out the door.

I my humble opinion they are marketed to get money from those willing to pay it. They accomplish nothing that I can see that any standard load would not. You got an inexpensive lesson because if they were selling for $25 a box at one time some guys really paid for the same lesson you got.

I love these rounds, they are non-tox so they are perfect for coyotes or foxes in the condor zone!

            As far as HD nope.

              ><

Old school hunting guys (I'm one) call them Goose Busters. You can find them in the hunting section for $16.00 per box of 25. ..... Just relabeled hunting rounds for $2.50 a pop
