    Vepr 12 jamming

Put the 1st 5 rounds through my Vepr 12 and it was flawless. After 5th round the bolt stayed open. I fumble with the bullet button and getting the mag released. Lock in the second mag which is a ten round SGM. Pull bolt back and release. It jams on the cartridge and deforms it. Release the mag drill and remove jammed cartridge. Insert mag and jam repeats. I was using winchester AA hulls. Going to try again with some pmc buck shot to see it resolves. I will report back if it is a hull problem or if the sgm mag is my grief.

Thats a common problem with the SGM mags. The follower is at a different angle then the Russian made mags. My SGM was the same way in my V12. I just always ended up using my Russian made mags. They arent cheap, but at least they work unlike the piece of crap SGM mags.

The only issue i’ve had with my SGM mags is they run out of ammo

I run primarily OO of slug though. Maybe it’s a low brass issue? How many rounds have you put through your VEPR op?

Winchester AA are some of the crappier rounds out there. Try some better ammo. It's not a bird gun.

I was shooting what I had on hand. I have 30 rounds through the Vepr now. This is one of the first run SGM mags that my ffl tossed in with the purchase.

Known problem on Vepers and Saigas. Winchester AA have softer hulls than other brands. They really soften up if it's a hot day. Federal bulk (Walmart) generally works fine as well as many other brands. I shoot 3 gun and for 100% reliability when a match is on a really hot summer day, we keep our loaded mags in an ice chest until ready to shoot. They can start to get oval shaped if they get hot in a fully loaded mag.

              SGM magazines are garbage.

Just use factory magazines. They are on sale for $16.49 at CSS right now. You can't beat this deal!

Yep sure beats the crazy prices listed elsewhere. I just received 4 of them and will probably order some more unless the Csspecs Vepr 12 mags come out soon.
