    CZ over under experiences

I shot my buddies beretta 686 this weekend and it was awesome. I'd like to get an over under that is pretty nice quality but I'd like to have one id not be too worried to get beat up but still be nice. Any thoughts on the CZs? I'd be looking to spend around 1000 to 1200 so most of their line would be in play. My other thought was a semi auto but that OU was awesome.

I was in your shoes about 2 months ago.... and I ended up buying a CZ Redhead Deluxe from Buds Guns, after tax/dros I think it was $920 to my door. I posted a video with initial impressions and my experience taking the gun down the first time.

Overall, I have about 500 rounds through the gun and its operated flawlessly. Fit right out of the box was pretty good, but I took mine to a local gunsmith (Duncan's Gunworks in San Marcos CA) and they shorted the stock and installed a good recoil pad (total cost $120). Fit is now excellent and I can shoot 100 rounds without even feeling it. What you sacrifice with this gun is quality of the wood, lack of any real engraving, and overall quality of the machined parts. I don't think you sacrifice much in usability. I'm really happy with the gun and will shoot it until the day comes I feel like spending $2500 for the next step up, and then I will gift this CZ to one of my sons. They love getting the "hand me downs".

I have the Canvasback, its the absolute bare-bones model. I bought it because I wanted my sons to learn the discipline of using their shells carefully with a gun that will take the abuse of duck hunting and won't make me too upset when it gets muddy, wet, scratched, or scraped. The shop I go to had 3 of them in stock and they pulled them all out so I could choose the one with the best wood (one was definitely nicer than the others). Both my sons shoot lefty, so the safety location of an OU is great for them as well. And including tax & DROS it was still under $800

First day I had it (maybe a month ago now), I took 3 ducks on 3 shots. I haven't hunted with anything else since. Very comfortable to shoot, seems exceptionally accurate (I haven't patterned it yet) and the rib height & bead size are a good match for my eye, as are the stock angle & LOP. I forgot my glasses last Saturday and still got 3 more ducks on just 5 shells. My 13-year-old who usually shoots a 20ga took the long way back from the blind because he wanted to try & jump some geese for me. We traded guns and he ended up taking a couple shots at some teal he scared up. He missed, but said shooting the gun was perfectly comfortable.

          2 thumbs up
I don't shoot because I like guns, I shoot because I hate paper.

I bought the CZ-USA Upland Sterling back in August, 2013. So far I have put over 1300 rounds through it, and it has performed flawlessly. To be truthful, it didn't fit me very well, so I wasn't very good with it at all. I have had an adjustable butt and comb installed, now it fits much better, and as a result, I shoot much better with it. The truth is, if it doesn't fit you properly, you will either not shoot it well or it will beat you up...It matters not how much you spend on it.
