saiga 12 AK vs regular saiga 12????

I purchased a UTG rail from a third party on amazon, fairly good price. I went to instal it and the stupid thing isn't the proper size, all the screw holes line up but the whole rail isn't wide enough to get around the barrel. When I messaged the seller they told me it does fit "AK saiga 12s" but it fits "regular saiga 12s".

I personally haven't heard of any different models like this, I think the guy/company/whoever is full of crap and mislabeled the rail. However I figured I'd post it here and see if I am wrong or not. I mean lets say there is a "regular" saiga 12, the damn rail still doesn't fit around a 12ga barrel....

    thanks!

    I am also confused...

Have you contacted UTG or does UTG have install help pages?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

No I haven't contacted UTG, I may shoot them an email about it. However the rail really isn't wide enough to get around the barrel.

When I asked for a refund through amazon, as the seller told me to do, they said again that "If you own AK saiga, will not fit. if not, here is a link about installation.

      bad grammar and all....

Sounds like you got ripped off. File a complaint with amazon.

Well, there's your first problem ... you bought UTG.

Yeah, thats the next step after I get my refund. Funny enough they took down the rail.

wow three posts , I figured the UTG bashing would be in the first post. Ive never had a problem with the functionality of a UTG product. They make good stuff. I don't care if you don't like them, that's not the point of the post.

I've owned three UTG products. Two on purpose, one accidentally - it was marketed as something else, then showed up in a UTG / Leapers box.

The bipod was good. Cheap, but very functional. I still have it on my 10/22. The VFG (intentional purpose) wouldn't stay on the rail, the scope (unintentional purchase) couldn't even be boresighted.

File your UTG issue as a learning experience, and buy something better next time. Hell, even Tapco would be an upgrade.

And, just so we're clear here ... you're posting this thread because you had a UTG product that sucked, and yet you're trying to tell us that they're really good stuff, this was just an aberration? If that's the case, there seem to be a lot of these exceptions to the rule of quality from them ...

I don't care to get into an argument over our individual and vastly different user experiences with UTG products.

However I didn't create this thread because I had a problem with the rail, I have a problem with the seller. Who, I believe, misrepresented what he was selling and didn't realize his mistake until now. I created this thread asking if there was in fact a different version of the saiga 12 shotguns I wasn't aware of. Something that isn't an AK type, I am almost certain there isn't but I would like to be 100% on it.

The rail on the other hand is solid, I can't wait to get the proper UTG to put on my saiga. I'm sorry you haven't had as much success with their products as I have.

UTG is usually pretty good quality. I have a scope made by them on my 10/22 that runs well. Nutnfancy ran a UTG scope rail on one of the AKs they were testing and it held up well. Key is to look at the reviews on the product before you buy it.

UTG rails are solid in my experience. Op bought a rail for a regular saiga (rifle).

the utg ones are great on the AK, it is a solid mount. there is a video on youtube to show you how to tighten it down properly.

Amazon should be able to help with a dispute wouldn't they?
