Rem Chokes in an HD gun?

Like many others, my 870 Tactical came with an 18" fixed cylinder choke. I can get a Rem Choke system installed for $100 if that would be useful in a HD shotgun. I could also screw in a x-Full turkey choke and go bust a turkey. What say you? Thanks...

Probably not. If you're really using it for home defense, at those distances, choke doesn't matter much. I would get a slightly longer, already choked barrel. There's a vendor on the internet, that sells barrels fairly cheaply, I bought a slug barrel with a rifled choke and sights for about $200.

      Wait...
You want to have your barrel threaded to fit a choke or other?
I bought a Carlson barrel with rem choke +3 tubes. I sold my other barrel and ended up only $50 out of pocket other then said 870x.

No use at all. A quick review of www.remingtonle.com will show that no 870 Model comes with threaded barrels for choke. Chokes are for hunting barrels not fighting barrels.

If you're going to a gun fight, take a shotgun. If you can't take a shotgun, don't go.

No need for tight groups. Scatter gun.

My 870x is used for hunting too thus the threaded barrel. I wouldn't need a choke if it's sole purpose was hd. Pattern yours and see the spread. You'll understand better. Cylinder it's all you need for hd...trust

LE132 holds tight patterns out of a cylinder choke beyond 50ft.

Fiocchi 00 buckshot out of the same barrel looks like this.

I have an 18 1/2" barrel with Remchoke. I like to use it with full choke and birdshot to simulate a buckshot pattern.

Yes you can and there are advantages. A lot of people have paid Van Comp a lot of money over the years to tight their choke patterns up.

Lots of fighting guns have interchangeable chokes (m2)

I would think for turkey you would want the extra velocity from a turkey length barrel.

Not to mention that if you turkey hunt without hearing protection, the 26-28" barrels are a lot quieter than an 18"
