From your description, it seems the the Hogue 12" LOP stock (already came with recoil pad) will fit your need.

Just replace your original stock with the Hogue, and you can keep the original stock.

The Hogue 12" LOP stock is nice and probably the cheapest and most readily available shorter LOP aftermarket stocks out there. I have one and like it. You also have other options such as the Remington youth stock or the SpeedFeed IV-S, both of which are 13" LOP stocks and are about double the price. I believe the Remington youth stock is simply a cut down full size stock.

There is also the Magpul stock but doesn't look very traditional, at all.

I switched both my 870 stocks to Spec-Ops Recoil Reduction (which are not to my liking) then switched both to the Magul SGA Stock The look takes a bit getting used to, but it shoulders great and really feels ridged and nice.

Here is pic of what mine looks like with Magpul (not my gun but looks identical)

I'm thinking about picking up a Hogue stock as well so my girlfriend can shoulder the 870 better. Do you guys think it will be TOO short for me once I switch to the 12" LOP? I'm 5'11".

IMO....12" LOP will be too short for a 5 11 person

Thank you that is what I figured. I guess I'll just have to take it on and off whenever We go shoot or try and make due with it while I shoot with her.

I'm 5' 11" and don't really find it too short as long as you are shooting it from a squared up position. If you are wearing heavy clothing and/or a vest then a 12" LOP stock makes it feel that much better.
