I'd offer $250 to start, but I wouldn't be against going up another $150 or so.

      Smoothest pump you'll shoot.

I've got my grandfathers 20 GA Featherlight.

It's about the same age as yours and is a sweet shooting field gun.

Just keep white wine away from the alloy receiver.

The Model 37 is a classic American shotgun, and as others have said, one of the smoothest pumps you'll ever find. Take care of it properly and you'll get generations more enjoyment from it.

I have an LAPD commemorative M37 in 12 ga that was my dad's (with both field and tactical barrels). The forend needed some work, and the M37 are the only vintage guns that Ithaca still supports (and fully!).

          Enjoy that great shotgun.

Of interesting note, the Model 37 Ithaca pump shotgun is one of the few old pumps I would shoot steel through (though I generally don't). The former gunsmith for Ithaca Gun Company (Les Hovencamp, now of Diamond Gunsmithing) has stated a couple of times on other forums that steel shot is fine in any model 37 with mod or less choke (try to keep it #4 shot or under). This is good news for people with older model 37s, since the barrels are not easily interchanged with other barrels. Though, as mentioned, I wouldn't make a habit of shooting steel through it.

If you happen to be a lefty, you can switch the safety to the other side.

One thing about 37s is that, as noted above, they only have interchangeable barrels above a certain serial number. I'd check a specifically shotgun website or the "New Ithaca" company homepage to see if yours is old enough to need a gunsmith to fit a new barrel, or if you can just buy the barrel and screw it on.

Certainly my favorite pump--I'll never understand why Remington didn't keep this (their Model 17) in their stable and just let the patent fall into Ithaca's lap--dumb! The Remington Model 31 was a gem, but the Model 37 has outlived it by 'way more than half a century!

                  .
                  I've got Grandma's from 1943.

Arguably the best upland pump ever made.

Great handling bird gun. Stock was cut for grandma though. gotta address that some day so I'll shoot it more.

Note that the older ones aren't interchangeable barrels.
