Remington 1100 12 gauge

For some reason the shell latch, new one, was placed in and it.. pops out of place, like.. cockeyed and **** and fails to release a new shell onto the latch. Whats wrong?

sounds like it wasn't staked properly.

I think there may be a spring there. Look at the schematic
