Anyone know whay this stock would have this repair? Looks strange in shape not a,sling mount. Why was it done with oak? I used chemical stripper and sanded with 150 &220. Im going to wet and steam the stock. It should have most of the dents out. Then BLO . Please dont freak out. The stock was cut. Barrel was chopped. Some one hot blued itand it looks like polished nickel? Strange gun. Any help would be nice.

Sling stud hole repair. I would guess it pulled out and came forward taking a chip with it, thus the shape of the plug. Why oak? (Looks like maple? to me)Maybe the only thing he had, or maybe had plans to re-install the stud, and wanted a denser grain wood so it wouldn't come loose again.Comment
