Benelli M4 cosmetic defect question

I put a deposit on an M4 tactical with standard synthetic stock. It looks to me like it has a manufacturing or assembly defect. The top, front edge of synthetic stock is raised about 1/16" to 3/32" above the receiver where the stock meets the receiver. In other words, the stock isn't flush with the receiver. Every M4 photo, including on Benelli's website, shows the stock flush with the receiver. When I brought this to the salesperson's attention, he showed me another M4 (pistol grip model) with the same characteristic. What are your thoughts on this? This doesn't seem like the quality fit and finish I would expect from Benelli. Should I request my deposit back and try another dealer? Thanks.

The M4 utilizes the exact buttstock as the SBE I, M1, and M3. Benelli ingeniously designed around the already existing Buttstock to make it quick change.

The profile of the receiver is different between the different generations. The Beretta 1201 FP has the the same issue.

And to let you know, it is cheaper to use the M1 stock with the Benelli adapter bolt or a 8.8 bolt than it is to purchase the filed stock for the M4.
