Hey guys. So I just made my first gun purchase ever. It's a the semi-auto tactical shotgun. I was just looking at them at Turners. I asked the lady if could see it. I liked the feel and it felt repetitively light overall I liked it. The price was 499.99 which was ok, I wasn't on planning on buying anything. Then the person helping me told me that it was 299.99. It was on sale so I jumped the gun and bought it. I pick it up on the 31st. What luck too. I'll get out to the range within the week of when i receive it to see how it shoots.

Here you go: http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/shotgu...ition/12-gauge
250 rounds of 00 buckshots for $98.90.
Before you order the bulk ammo though, just get a box of cheap birdshots from Walmart and try those. See if the shotgun will cycle those, if it does, you can skip the "breaking in" process.Comment

Also with the "breaking in", you can hand cycle the action to "break in" the spring. This is a cheaper alternative to buying high grade ammo.Support your local Gun-store:

FWIW, I thought the same thing about hand cycling it with the typical low base loads that I use for shooting clay pigeons until it broke in, should be the same thing, right? That was not my experience, I gave up after 3 boxes. It was getting better but still not right. I then proceeded to run 10 rounds of 3" 00 buck through it and it has run flawlessly ever since. I picked mine up from Turner's at 399.99 and thought it a good deal at that rate, even better at 299.99.
The Remington mag extensions work great on it, do a little searching on it as there are a couple of different ways to go about it.Comment

You need to match the ammunition to the range and target type you're shooting. You should find out what kind of shotgun ammunition are allowed in your local ranges, then decide what type of ammo you want to use.
I like using 00 buckshots as plinking ammo, these are also my home defense shells. I would say go with 00 buckshots if your local range allows it. They are easier to come by and are quite cheap. Birdshots are cheaper, but unless your range allows birdshots on steel targets, they will be a pain because they obliterate paper targets very quickly.
If you're in the SF Bay Area, the best place would be Tin Can Range in Los Altos Rod & Gun club. You can basically fire anything out of your shotgun in their Tin Can Range, just bring tin cans and milk jugs (1 gallon max) and blow them up with buckshots, or slugs if you don't mind the added expense for slugs. It is an outdoor range, which is nice when you're firing a shotgun, it won't be as loud as firing it in an indoor range.Comment

I wrote up a bunch of stuff on mine when I got it. Search this sub-forum, and you should find them.
I like mine, and am planning some upgrades for it in 2014.
More to come.

Mag tube, front light mount, sling, breaching choke. That'll do it.
Breakdown is easy, but can be a pain:
Remove mag cap.
Slide off fore end.
Remove barrel. You can push forward gently on the bolt to help with this. Note how the O-rings on the gas system are setup. You need to put it back the same way. Some folks like to rotate them, but you'll see when you get there.
Remove charging handle. This is the trickiest part. Mine didn't want to come out. You need to look at the notches where the handle goes in and align the bolt and carrier notches. Then pull the handle out.
With charging handle out, remove bolt, bolt carrier and spring.
Trigger assembly is held in with one pin in the receiver. Push out the pin. Note how the trigger assembly comes out, you will need to reverse that to put it back.
Have fun, and Merry Christmas.Last edited by North86; 12-25-2013, 12:07 PM.Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves. - William PittComment

You can buy some ammo that will cycle at walmart, just make sure it shoots at 1300 fps. They sell boxes for 7 dollars, winchester super x, it must b a least 1300 fps to cycle without a breakin period.
Congrats, everyone who bought one here in the shotgun forum loves them.Comment
