    Remington model 11 reassembly

    First attempt...

Reassembled my grandfather's model 11 and I can't figure out what I did. Checked my work and realized I can't load a second shell, the gate won't let one through and the hammer sounds like it's striking very lightly. Looks like the mech timing is off as the cycle goes thru, just can't chamber a second round.

Been watching some videos on YouTube, but they're either grainy, or not showing some of the steps clearly.

    Any ideas at all?

Hard to tell without seeing the gun, I would be willing to help you out in person. I am located in Wildomar near Lake Elsinore, where are you located? I have completely disassembled & reassembled my model 11 before without problems but they are complicated.

Here are some manuals that might help.

What you basically have is a U.S. made Browning Auto 5 so you can use this info on A-5's.

Thanx for the offers to help 95t, but I'm not near Lake Elsinore. Appreciate the links too Tom and Huntsprig. Was following some of them already but didn't seem to help

I got everything together now but I have realized that the hammer does not firmly strike the firing pin and stay locked in the strike position. You can hear/see the hammer through the side bouncing around inside the housing. Havent' taken it out yet for a test but that's not right I'm sure. Everything else seems g2g.

          Further suggestions?

No, didn't disassemble it. Only took it out to get all the grime from inside the receiver and put it back. Didn't force it and I didn't hear any bad/scary noises when it went back in.
