steel shot with full choke ok?

I know this have be talked over and over before but their seems to be pro and con on this. I myself have shot steel though full choke but that was #6 and #7 shot. What about #2 and #3 shot being fire from full choke in steel shot, is this to dangerous for the barrel or the choke. Can I just get a choke that is made for steel shot in full... what are the though of this.

Yes I have, it doesn't say much at all it say barrel can shot steel but not sure about the choke.

If the shotgun barrel is expensive to replace I'd would use extended chokes made for steel.

It seems like I've heard that newer guns its ok, but a lot of older guns it isnt. I have 1950's era Ithica M37 with a fixed full choke and I contacted them about using steel shot and they said not to.

I think it's not a good idea to shoot steel through factory full. You can crack the choke because it doesn't compress like lead

Yes, it's fine assuming the choke it built for it. Each of my Benellis came with steel approved full chokes. I shoot No. 2 by the way.

OK than ill just get a choke that is made for steel in full. Is steel to much for full because of it's bore

Have you called the manufacturer and talked to them and not just read the instruction manual? With information all over the place...sometimes we forget a phone call will correctly answer all questions.

you talk like its a personal preference.....which is insane.

you're going to blow the end of your barrel off if you don't have a Steel-specific full choke. maybe not the first or second shot you try it, but it very well could happen on the 1st shot.....It's not a "pro and con" type of thing.

Thanks all I went on their site and went to FAQ says nothing much message twice but yes ill going to give them a call... also this is just a factory choke doesn't say anything like lead or steel but I'm assuming it for lead only. Again this is the reason I'm hear asking question because I don't want to blow up anything on my barrel and not just this only but when lead ban take affect which we will no longer used lead but steel only.

True story:

I had just gotten my Benelli 26" M2 back from the shop/gunsmith for upgrading to 3Gun specs (ext mag tube, trigger job, loading port/carrier work, etc.). I met my buddy at Oaktree and we shot a round of trap with it (full choke). We then proceeded to the rifle range and began to shoot 00 buck and rifled slugs with the full choke still accidentally left on.

The user manual says no steel should be shot through the full or IM chokes. So it didn't blow up on me and there didn't appear to be any damages, but boy did I feel lame.

I wont shoot steel on any choke tighter than MOD.
