Overall you paid right at the low end of the chart for a very good M4. Nice!
Don't forget to add the 7.5% tax, $40 shipping and extra cost of DROS.If I ever stop laughing, I'm dead.

Isn't after you've won the auction a little late to be asking if you got a good price?/Chris
I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.
You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.

Nice. Looks like good mods and very good shape. I almost always prefer new for guns if possible, but that's a personal choice. Incidentally I just won an auction for a new one for $50 less. Too bad they can't waive the tax since the gun you bought is (however slightly) used. Anyhow, those mods look like they're worth a couple hundred bucks at least. So if you were going to do that anyway, great job!

Why does everyone go on about this subject concerning the M4? I thought it was just an importer/manufacturer thing. If it's so important to "comply with 922R" then why does the gun come in a non-compliant state? And if it comes that way, why does it fall on the owner/end user/whatever to make it compliant? I appreciate any answers I can get on this as I just purchased one myself and have yet to receive it.
And while I do intend to get the extended mag tube, I hadn't planned on doing anything else to mod the gun. So unless there's a real reason that 922R might be a problem for me, I don't see why I should change more parts that I otherwise would...Last edited by MultiCaliber; 12-13-2013, 7:53 PM.Comment

Now having said that, I've never heard of anyone being cited for 922R but when it comes to gun laws, most of us do not want to tempt fate. YMMV.
Note that this isn't a California thing, it's a Federal thing. So you're playing with the big boys if anyone comes after you on this. 922R limits the capacity to five rounds on imported shotguns. The Benelli being Italian means it's imported.
The gun is complaint coming in. Leave it as is, and you're good to go. The act of swapping the factory mag tube for a higher capacity tube, however, renders it non-compliant.
And look, none of this is going to make sense to you but firearms laws seldom do. Don't shoot the messenger here as I'm just relaying the information.
If memory serves, there are 13 key parts to the gun that the Feds have identified. And the magic number is 10. Meaning that if you change any one of those 13 parts with a US counterpart, you then have to change 2 more to get the number of imported parts in the gun down to 10.
I know. This is one hell of a crazy law.
Anyway, if you swap the Benelli tube for an American tube you now need to change two more parts. The gun that the OP bought already has a Surefire rail on it and the hand guards are part of the Magic 13, so he only needs one more. Followers are also on the list and probably the easiest/cheapest to swap. Swap that out to make 3 and you're good to go.
I am not an expert here and it's been a few years since I made the mods to my M4 so my memory may be a bit rusty. I would encourage you to spend some time researching this yourself.
There is good information posted on Carrier Comps website and Freedom Fighter Tactical has a white paper up on their site that goes into this in much greater detail. Much has also been written on this here on Calguns but the forum on Benelli's website is probably a much better place for info on all things Benelli."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

You did equivalent to walking into a car dealership and buying a used car with some nice rims for close to what a stock, brand new car goes for. But it looks like it wasn't used much so that's good."If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so." - Thomas JeffersonComment

Ahhh. Ok, now it makes sense. Generally I'd heard people talking about 922R as pertaining to AK variant rifles and the only shotguns mentioned have been the Benelli M4. Now I see why. And since I want to throw a 7-rd tube on mine I'll need the info you gave me. Thanks!People go on about this subject because it's the law and they're trying to keep your butt out of jail for you.

And grats to the OP. It does indeed look great.Comment
