Benelli customer service is a HUGE disappointment!

I sent my Benelli Nova in to them last month because it fails to ejects a round. It extracts from the chamber but does not eject. Me and a gun smith both verified it must be the receiver. So I made a note of that in the repair form. I got it back after they did some misc repairs and it does the exact same thing. Maybe one out of 10 rounds ejects. I called back and the lady kept telling me I have to fire the gun to see if it works correctly. I kept explaining to her it is a basic function of unloading and it has nothing to do with firing a round. I feel she has no clue about guns. I asked if they would cover shipping since it's expensive and she said they won't. I asked if they verify the issue is still present will they reimburse me. Again no. I am very disappointed in Benellis customer service. The customer should not have to be responsible for an expensive shipping charge for them failing to fix the issue right the first time. Can anyone recommend anything I can do or do I just suck up another $46 in shipping. What have your experiences been with Benelli?

Contact the gun shop you bought your Nova from and ask them to contact the Benelli area rep that they do business with. He should be able to resolve your issue...that's a part of his job.

Also - do not "cop an attitude or start placing demands" when you speak to the customer service people. I'm not saying you did that but what I am suggesting is you will get better results with a little sugar than coal.

Communication is essential and it seems you made it very clear that the gun does not eject properly. This sounds like a failure to extract and eject. Pass this on to your gun shop and ask that he arrange for a meet or a callwith Benelli area representative.

My one experience with Benelli customer service has been a very positive one. I asked that they fix a failure to eject problem on my 18 y.o HK/Benelli SBE. It was obviously out of warranty but Benelli stepped up and went through the gun at no cost to me. That's pretty strong CS.

Back to contacting the Benelli area rep through your gun shop. I had a friend that had a barrel ring problem with his M2. Benelli told him there was a slight bulge in the barrel. which he had no idea about, and refused to fix or replace it. Evntually, after numerous conversations, they compromised on a low price for a new barrel($150)and he took it. The new "camo" barrel had some flaws in the finish. I suggested he go to his gun shop and let them know about the whole deal. The gun shop contacted the Benelli area rep. After all was said and done the rep gave him two options...refund the $150 and return the flawed barrel and Benelli will send him another one or keep it and recieve another barrel. He opted to keep the first barrel with no refund and recieve the new second barrel. All was good.

Thanks for your advise. Yeah, I was very polite and didn't show attitude. I did get a little frustrated with her though for saying I need to fire the gun in order to see if it's defective. It's a basic function check that it fails. But, hopefully Bass Pro will step in and give me a hand. I was very surprised with Benelli's response. I pictured them to go above and beyond as they did with your buddy. I will keep you posted.

Hmmm. No issues with my 3 yr old Stoeger p350. One of the main reasons I bought it because I felt that Benelli was a good company that would stand behind their product. I hope I never have to test that.

Is the problem when you're actually firing the gun, or when you're working the action by hand?

Because I would say go out and shoot the crap out of it, then report back.

          250 rounds minimum.

The issue is you can either load the magazine up and chamber a round then if you go to pump it to eject the round it double feeds every time because the previous round remains in the receiver. Or if you just load one round in the magazine, chamber it and then proceed to clear the gun the round extracts out of the chamber, doesn't eject, then goes back in the chamber as the slide is pulled forward again. You can pump it 15 times and it might eject once. I took it to bass pro today and they are sending it back to Benelli for me free of charge. The guy actually said there were 2 other Benelli Novas in duckblind that were brought back this week with the same failure to eject issue. Maybe it is a bad lot of receivers which I'm almost certain it is. Oh, and my gun has a couple thousand rounds through it.

I'm confused. The gun has a couple thousand rounds thru it, and this issue just started or it's been doing that since new?

The gun is 1 year old with a couple thousand rounds through it. It has worked perfect until a month ago out of the blue. Put it in the safe a few months back working normally, took it out of the safe last month and doesn't eject.

Did any of the repairs by the gunsmith or Benelli involve the ejector or the ejector spring?

Nope. That surprised me too. You have to write a very detailed description of the issues. I was very clear that the extractor worked fine but the ejector didn't. For some reason almost all the repairs had to do with extractor. Kinda odd to focus on the extractor for an ejector issue.

I've swapped my ejector and spring with another Nova and the new parts failed in mine and my parts worked in the other nova. Which is why I think it's the receiver.

That's always good to hear. I'm sure Bass Pro will do everything in their power to make it right for you and I'm sure they have a direct line to the Benelli area representative. It's to bad this is happening during duck season though.

Good luck and I'll look forward to your updates.

Good thing I have my Browning Maxus : )

And just in case anyone was curious, the repairs made were as listed: Modified extractor cut, replaced extractor, adjusted locking head, adjusted receiver, function checked & test fired, no malfunctions.
