    Beretta Silver Pigeon Questions

What's the latest entry level shotgun from Beretta?

I called pacific sporting arms and they said they were getting the latest models.

Also, what's the market price for said shotgun?

What should I look for in used O/U?

I was at the pawn shop today and they guy said as long as the lever that releases the action isn't leaning too far to the center nor to the left it's pretty new.

Yes the release should be right of center on Brownings and others....some like the Weatherby (SKB) center is where it should be....depends on the action type.

Best thing is to look for is condition...if its near new on the outside its new on the inside.... good quality O/Us like the 686 go 10s of thousands rounds....so if its not worn to hell its has a loooong way to go.

            Having trouble locating good dealers/suppliers.

Has anyone used this guy before? http://www.joeletchenguns.com/berettan.htm

I got the quote in the email and it was $1850 for a Beretta Silver Pigeon I Sporting.

Is that the best price available?

When I was looking for a Dt11, Matt at Joel Etchen gave me a very good quote.

That is a very good quote.

It's tough finding a used one since people love them and they're a great gun. The used ones if you find one go for almost the same as a new gun.

That's a good price, but you will still have to pay CA sales tax and a tranfer and DROS fee. If the transfer fee is $100 to $150 you might as well buy it local.

                    ^

Not sure where Monrovia is but check out Pacific Coast Firearms for $50 fee (including DROS)!

Also, what's a good o/u that's on par with the Beretta but cheaper?

                      Non-existent.

Joel Etchen has great prices, but also check on shipping and transfer costs.

I ended up buying my Silver Pigeon Sporting from Pacific Sporting Arms last February, all said and done it was a little under $2200 out the door. I think that was a bit more than the total would have been if I ordered from Joel Etchen, but I was able to see and handle my gun first and pick the one I wanted out of the couple they had in stock.

Go to your local clay bustin' range and look at their sale board...a used shotgun is just as good as any other shotgun off the shelf in most cases. I was able to find a shotgun and even try it out before deciding to buy it, even got a tips on how to clean it etc.

All said and done from Joel is about $2103 using http://www.pacificcoastfirearms.com/ as the source of transfer. I think I may end up going with Pacific Sporting Arms just because they help you fit the gun in person at no extra cost.

I try to buy used (purchased 3 used guns here on calguns already) but I am not too familiar with over under shotguns. What are some things to look for beyond the lever location and the exterior condition?

If you speak with Joe, there's a good chance that they'll price match. And keep in mind, there prices are often extremely competitive as it is.
