Chiappa vs Mossberg

Myself, I'd go with the Mossy -berg just because it has been around a whole lot longer, so........

1. There is a plethora of parts & replacement parts available for it.

2. You are dealing with a known manufacturer who will repair, fix or otherwise replace your shotguns as/if needed.

3. Because of the to above listed facts, you can change the configuration of your scatter-gun at will, into what you nee for that specif reason (ie, 18" cylinder bore barrel & 28" screw in choke barrel for hunting) --- don't know if you can do that with the Chiappa ???

Thanks DEF23. One of the reasons the Chiappa is in my interest is because it has an 18.5" that is threaded for Remington chokes. The Mossberg on the other hand has a 18.5" non-threaded.

And the Chiappa is also nickel.

How long is the warranty on the Chiappa? I think Mossberg warranty is 10 years, pretty impressive.

Yep, the Mossy has a better warranty & is American made.

The 18.5" barrel is only good for home defense....... but what happens when one of your buddies invites you duck or turkey hunting ??

Can you do it with a 18" barrel gun ?? Yes, you can........but why do so --- when you can pull the 18" barrel off of your Mossy 500 and swap it out for a 26" barrel with screw in chokes on it, in a matter of seconds and smoke them all a whole lot further out.

That is impressive! I'm not sure about Chiappa. I was looking at Cheaper Than Dirt for the shotgun. Chiappa doesn't sell their firearms directly to customers [apparently] and CTD was cheapest I found.

CTD doesn't actually sell guns JFink. They are just 'gun brokers'. That is why none of them are 'in-stock' at their facilities, they ship from the product manufacturers location and just take a cut of the profits.

You can find used Mossy 500 & Remmy 870 at almost any gun shop nearby and it shouldn't run you to much over $300. In fact, a week or so ago there were quite a few of them up for sale in the Cal Gun classified.

In the long run, you'll be much happier if you purchase one of the known American made brands.

Both Remmy's & Mossy's can easily go in excess of 25,000 rds and still be shooting just fine. I wouldn't bet on that with a Chiappa. And if your Chiappa does brake, where are you going to get parts for it ???

Mossberg 500 you will never regret it.

Wait for the end of the year at big 5 they have the combo 18.5 barrel and 26inch barrel for 250-270$USD or sometimes cheaper if you look right.

Also buy American and you help well,l Americans.
