    Need help with Mossberg 500

I bought a new Mossberg 500 from Big 5 and brought it home the other day. I have not done anything with it yet but I noticed that there is a noise that sound like a spring is sliding within the mag tube (unloaded) when I point it in the air then move it so it is pointing to the ground and vice versa.

    Is this normal?

Take the barrel off and point the lower at the ground. They always ship their shotguns with a wooden dowel installed to limit the tube to 2 rounds for hunting. there is a small rubber o-ring on each end to help with the noise, but it rarely does. when you tip it down and give it a little shake, the end of the dowel should stick out just enough for you to grip and remove. I hope the issue is as simple as this...

That was it. Thank you much! I wish all issues were just that simple.
