I have the newer Mossy 500 with the forend and action slide are "pinned" together. I want to buy a Hogue forend, I know I will need to buy a replacement action tube assembly and nut, how do I know what length to buy? How do I measure the original?

This is the one you'll need. The shorter tube is pretty much only used on the 590 anymore.

Been there, done that. Its a PITA to install usually, have had several that required some fitting of the forend in order for the adapter nut to fit. Go with the long action slide and save yourself the headacheComment

Guess I got lucky then. Just this past week I installed one without having to modify anything, and I'm not even a mechanically inclined person.Comment

Maybe they've fixed the issue. Always seemed odd that the same company was making the forend and the adapter nut and the parts wouldn't fit together right "out of the box"Comment
