New Ruger Red Label: Is it really better? Anyone getting it?

The old Ruger Red Label was not so great, as most know.

Will you take a chance on the new Ruger Red Label?

    Does anyone have one?

Like to gather as much info as possible before a buy.

Ruger makes a lot of other good things. The problem is getting both barrels to shoot in the same direction and making it to last a while w/o getting loose.

The guy on Gunblast sure seemed to like it. Looks good, price is pretty good, Ruger standing behind it. If I was looking for an over/under, I would certainly look at it.

Turners is advertising them for $1,099. That's a great price and Made in USA. To get better you need to spend several hundreds more for a Beretta or Browning.

Here's the thing, I want to buy a SUPERIOR American product. Something innovative, well made, well designed and well engineered. Something I can take pride in ownership of.

A Remington Vera Max would be something I want to own eventually.

This particular shotgun....probably not for me, unless there's some form of innovation or superior design I'm not aware of that Ruger had engineered into it.

          "Not great"...that's being very nice.

No. WHY would you "take a chance" with that much $$??

Not here, though obviously some may.

Personally, at a grand for the Red Label, I'd save just a bit more and get something that's known good. Something made by a company that's done it for a century or 3.

It is American. It's not superior. It's not innovative, can't say if it's well made, the design is not original, and the new Red Label is engineered to lower manufacturing costs...not necessarily to make a better gun.

If you want a superior o/u, you'll need to find one made out of the country.

The hand fitting is what you get in a Beretta and Browning. I have a Beretta and it's just perfect IMO but I also paid a lot more than this one costs today.

I like to handle one of these new red labels before making judgement. They might be ok!

I own two Rugers as it is and am really wanting a over under as my next gun buy. The citori is what I have been eying but the price is not that appealing. I'm intrested to say the least and will be following reviews.

I take it you've never heard of Kolar Arms or Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing... Neither of these come cheap but if you have the money you can get an excellent O/U without going to Italy, Germany, Austria, or England to get it..

I put money down at Turners for a new Red Label. That was a month ago and they still don't have an ETA. For $1100 the only other OU option is Turkish made stuff. Sorry I'm Armenian by descent and won't buy guns made by the enemy. Unless you want to spend at least $2k on Beretta or Citori (or others) the Ruger is the only option. My big fear is being a guinea pig and first to pick up a new gun. Always best to wait until they're debugged. Also the fact that Ruger missed the XMas season with this gun means they're either having component delays or production issues (neither bodes well). I'm rolling the dice based on Ruger's recent successful endeavors into rifles and pistols, and their superior customer service (unlike Beretta's who seem to think their poop doesn't smell). Only time will tell. Keep in mind I am not a big time Trap shooter (mostly into pistols). If I were I'd probably wait to spend more doe on a proven gun. I have looked at the Ruger in 2 different shops and have to say it looks very nice, and balances well.
