    Question about gun/hunting dogs

Do gun dogs use ear protection? Sorry if its a stupid question.

I've been browsing for a youth/compact shotgun for my wife and have seen a lot of shotgun advertisement videos. Many of them show a very nice scene of how a hunter wielding one of their products and with a gun dog at his side would hunt ducks and other birds.

Those dogs don't seems to be bothered with the sound of a shotgun firing, sometimes repeatedly. Its actually pretty amazing to me how well trained those dogs are, it seems like they would keep quiet and wait until the hunter has brought down the bird before rushing forward to retrieve it. Are dogs naturally not bothered by the loud sound of a shotgun firing?

Most dogs do not wear hearing protection. Many gun dogs end up going def.

There are these. Not sure how well they work.

A good gun dog requires quite a bit of training. They are not oblivious to loud noise.

I've owned and bred hunting dogs for many years. This is the first time I've ever heard anything about ear protection for them. Introduce them to loud noises and gunshots at an early age and they won't get gunshy - that is the worry. PM me if you want more information.
