Mossberg 500 Combo kit from Big 5

I have owned this set for 5 years now and I still love it and have never had any issues. I do however would like to replace the slide and after doing some research realized that I need to get a new slide action if I want to do so. I look online and there are two different sizes. There is a 6 3/4" and a 7 3/4". Which one do I get?

I either want the hogue overmolded or the magpul if it ever comes out.

I think I remember reading somewhere that this set was one of those "built for big 5" deals and is basically a Maverick 88.

You want the longer one (7 3/4) which is what now comes with all 500's.

If you have the shorter action tube hogue makes a nut that will work with it and their forends.

to help identify, the maverick 88 will also have a crossbar safety instead of the top tang safety

some of the cheap newer forends (like the one I got from big5 combo) come with an action slide handguard without a tube, and is from what I understand more prone to failure.

So solution is to buy a 7 5/8" action tube which will be compatible with both the magpul and hogue forends
