Looking for a 12 gauge shotgun

Ive been looking at the mossberg family of pump 12 gauge shotguns and I have seen a few I really like. I'm going for the tactical look



My question is should I buy a 590/590A1 and build it up to my specifications or buy one that already comes stock from mossberg that already has all the tactical add ons.

All depends on you. Do you wanna buy it as it or build it yourself. Personally when I got my 870, I bought it stock and added the accessories on myself. You get to pick what accessories you want and you get to know your shotgun.

Whichever one to your liking. My "tactical" 870 is a stock 870 with a surefire fore end weaponlight, a six shell side saddle, and I'll put a sling on there when I'm taking a class. That's it.

I kept it simple and learned how to use the factory bead sight.

Well it's a shotgun... The only thing it needs is a pump and some slugs. None of the crap you snap or bolt on is going to help you in a gunfight. The average gunfight happens at a distance of seven yards and is over in less than two seconds. Your heat shields, rails and broom handles will be less than useless.

If all you want is a tactical looking shotgun then buy an escort or something for super cheap and start adding side saddles, lights, lasers, collapsable/folding buttstocks and/or pistol grips, bayonets, red dot optics, offset rifle sights, vertical fore grip, heat shield, grenade launcher and an M-16 on top.

I just ordered my first shotgun. I went with the Mossberg 590a1 USSM... I did a ton of research before I bought it. The version I chose just has a bead sight with a 20inch barrel. I have ZERO plans adding anything else to it, even a side saddle. I am on the fence about that. You don't want the gun to be so damn heavy it would be cumbersome in a gunfight. Unless you just want it for that wow factor and for looks instead of HD I would say keep it simple and not add a ton of stuff. But thats my opinion. Good luck to you on your search! Blessings
