    #6 lead shot

I have come into possession of 2 boxes of 2 3/4", 12g, 1oz lead shot shot shells. What should I do with them? I've never been hunting, but I'm looking to start. I'm mostly interested in turkey, but I'm open to other upland birds or small game.

Squirrels too! Though #4 passes through more often than #6 (which can be preferable when you go to eat them).

No. 6 lead is a very versatile load. I have Killed several turkey over the years with No.6 lead. Pheasants do not like old No.6 either. Keep them and use them for upland bird hunting until they are no longer legal in this stupid state.

Those would about right for pen raised pheasant or for Chucker. The preferred for quail is 7.5-8 and for turkey a heavy dose of 4's.

Pen pheasant would be a pretty good way to break into hunting.

#6 Ok for wild birds, but I much prefer a heavier charge of #5. A lot depends. Things like cover, pointer, flusher, early season, wise birds, etc.
