    Prado

Anyone shoot Prado lately? I'd have to say its a far cry from Triple B's.

The field I was on kept flinging out dead birds on the high house. I wasn't shooting so well anyways; I was having a hard time concentrating on the bird.

I was just there the other day. All birds came through fine for us.

Tripple B- Pretty scenery, nice new equuipment, slightly pricey and not very social

Rasalhague's - Kinda grungy, semi social, over priced

Prado - not the prettiest field in the US, good people, good atmosphere and all around good time.

When I shoot its pretty much this. I go to Prado for 5 stand and to meet and greet and have a all around good day of clays, Im pretty sure every time I've gone I get into a convo with at least the group and 1 worker.

I go down to Rasalhague when friends want to do sporting clays. Only reason.

I drive up to tripple B if I want a pretty well kept field, thats about it. Other than that it doesnt offer much for me, I've never really had a pleasant talk with any of the workers, groups are usually anti social and stick with in their own. Aside from the cart workers I go shoot and come back. But at least it looked pretty.

I live literally 1 35 min (Google Maps) from tripple B and Prado. I use to feel the same and always loved BBB due to their well kept fields, but now I dont care about that and prefer the slightly less utopia but better time at Prado. At a good price point to boot. And its not like you lose those clays usually prado just lets you role again.

    That's just me tho.

You guys should stop complaining. Nowhere to shoot skeet in SD.

I'm a member of BBB as well, and definitely agree with this. I love it's proximity and some of the folks I've met there, so the cost and service are a wash.

That said, folks should try Redlands Shooing Park. When I'm out that way, I always try and get there. Service is great, fields aren't providing the same scenery as BBB, but it's not terrible. Cost isn't bad either. Last time I was out there alone shooting skeet, I had some employees trade off pulling for me. Good folks. They're sporting clays fields are coming along and their looking to enhance all the time.

Still, sheer ease of use, can't beat BBB.

            I like Triple B's.

It's close and they make it a circular course, so you have a wide area to shoot for sporting clays. Start at the clubhouse and end there.

Triple B Clays is a nice facility but sometimes it feels like I'm shooting at the country club and I don't belong.. On several occasions I've been treated like a red-headed step child because I wasn't shooting something deemed inappropriate by the country club crowd.. I really don't appreciate the comments such as "just what do you think you're going to do with that son" in regards to the gun I was shooting...

I was shooting a pump with a 28" barrel.. I don't look or dress like a punk and I'm respectful to other shooters... So I really don't get it..

Its not like this every time I shoot there.. Most of the people are cool..

Thanks for mentioning Redlands Shooting Park Gunninit. RSP is owned by a legendary trap shooter (Terry Bilbey) and is run by his daughter and new son-in-law. They are nice folks just trying to keep a range going in So Cal. They have put up a giant shot curtain to comply with EPA requirements and are offering some great "intro" to shooting packages. The sporting clays course is nothing to write home about but at least there are machines throwing different presentations out there. We have to support all our local ranges as we can't afford to lose any!

I like Prado. Friendly enough people, and they leave us alone to shoot. I usually have good luck with their equipment.

I used to work at BBB part time from 2004-2007. The wife of the owner nearly ran the place into the ground, chasing out trap shooting clubs due to whatever her issue of the day was. The pro shop was poorly stocked, the trap houses were a mess, half of them had 2-3" of standing water, poorly maintained throwers, and all of the top houses on the doubles/skeet fields looked like they were about to fall apart. As to the workers not being sociable, they are (or were) told not to interact much with customers. "you're a puller, you work in the house, you dont work in the pro shop". Dont get me started on the bathrooms

Given that its still around, perhaps she has changed her business plan for the positive and stopped being such a *****!

Been a few years since i was there, I wonder if the little spanish lady still runs the kitchen, she makes one hell of a chocolate shake!
Anybody remember the head Field guy named Patrick?

My main complaint with CS was the 2 pro shop girls and every now and again other heavier gentlemen in the shop. The pro shop always seemed to be stocked but just the tone of the girls if you weren't flirting with them you don't get the time of day and when you finally do it's like a gun shop feeling that they are so gun educated because they know the rule sheet front and back and just at the chance (mid convo with my cousin) to interrupt and throw in their FUD or try to one up you on shooting clays or what ever the convo is about. Just kinda got annoying knowing I'm about 90% sure I could out shoot either of them in any style/type of shoot. But I kept my mouth closed, let them talk and did what we had to do and walked out to shoot. But again the field hands are cool guys.

Sporting Clays in the Los Angeles area:

Say what you want about So. Cal. We’ve got restrictive gun laws, we’ve got earthquakes, we’ve got wildfires, we’ve even got “The Terminator” for our (ex)governor, but we do have 4 Sporting Clays ranges in the Los Angeles area.

Each of them holds their monthly shoot on a different weekend. Each of them has something different to offer, all are fun to shoot, and all are open to the public.

Triple B Clays is located in El Monte off of the 60 near the 605. They have a 24 station flat course, in a heavily treed setting. There are 12 hunter stations and 12 tournament stations, most have A, B & C shooting position. Most of their stations have three or four machines presenting a good variety of target presentations. Their monthly shoot is on the first Sunday of the month. http://www.triplebclays.com

Raahauge’s is located in Corona off of the 91 between the 71 and the 15. It’s a semi-flat course set in the Prado flood plane. They keep adding new stations and new machines all the time. I think they're up to about 25 by now. Their monthly shoot is on the second Sunday of the month. Mike has passed away, but the range is still going strong. http://www.raahauges.com/

Moore-N-Moore is located in San Fernando off of the 210 near the 118. It’s a great course with hills and valleys in the San Gabriel Mtn foothills. They have 12 stations, 10 of them have A & B shooting positions. They really are “The friendliest range in southern California”. They hold their monthly shoot on the third Saturday of the month. http://www.moorenmoore.com

Oak Tree is located in Newhall off of the 5 near the 14. They have some of the most spectacular views on a sporting clays course anywhere in America. http://www.oaktreegunclub.com/ (Call before going)

Prado Olympic Shooting Park is located in Chino off of the 71 near the 91. They offer trap, skeet & 5-stand. http://www.shootprado.com/

All of these places offer public shooting so don’t wait until they hold their monthly shoots. Contact the clubs directly for more information.

If you live in Los Angeles and you can’t find a place to shoot, you’re not looking hard enough.

Here’s a link to my website. I’ve got pictures & reviews of the clubs:

                            Prado is nice..

When not busy. I like the spot on the far left for skeet. Plenty of shade and seating. There is even a BBQ for cook out.
