Raptor semi-auto shottie reviews?

Does anyone have experience with the Raptor semi-auto?
Heard these sometimes come on sale at various stores for around $300-$400. Looks like this is there website. http://tristararms.com/raptor-semi-a...c-shotguns.php

I wanted a low cost shot gun that I could use for skeet. Not looking to blow 2 grand on a skeet gun anytime soon or go hard core competition. Figured with the semi-auto feature this might be decent for skeet and could still be used for home defense. What does everyone think?

Btw, heard from a few people that barrels on cheaper shotguns don't last as long however, that's highly subjective so it doesn't mean much.

Just picked mine up from Turner's last week. You mentioned using this gun for skeet however, I have read that this shotgun does not run well with low brass loads at least for the first shots. In fact, there was a note inside the box which recommended that I run high brass and magnum loads before using low brass. I'm planning to zero this out with slugs and then run some buckshot within the next couple of weeks when I get a chance.

Turners had the Raptor A-TAC on sale for $299 about a two weeks ago. I just picked mine up yesterday. Now I have to find enough ammo to feed two shotguns.

I picked mine up yesterday, just like the others here $300 at turners. I tried shooting some Winchester target loads and they did not cycle at all. Definitely needs a break in period.

hey north do you have any tips on how to fully break it down. like to clean the bolt. ivefound guides on youtube that show breakdown as far as the removing the barrel only.

These shotguns are really made for buckshot and slugs. There are guides online on how to get rid of burs, polish it up, and basically not make the shotgun so rough. Worst case scenario, you may have to play with the gas system.

Not a good choice for skeet. Save for a Benelli M2, Versamx, or even a 930. An 870 seems like it'll do what you want it to do also.

Anyone know if there are any USA made parts for 922r compliance if I were to add a mag extension. I know they're Benelli clones. I wonder if those parts fit.

This guy used a mag extension from an 870 albeit with some dremel work.

After you pull the barrel, you need to press the bolt back down into the receiver a little bit. You can use the rails to do this, like on a pump.

The charging handle rests in the bolt, and there is a little notch on the bolt. When you have carrier pressed down a little, line up the notch and pull the charging handle out. It will come out, but not easily. You should feel it wiggle. This will allow the bolt and the carrier to slide out the front. The handle is the only thing holding the bolt and carrier in the receiver.

There is a single takedown pin that holds the trigger group. Knock that out with a small punch, and you have access to the whole underside of the receiver. Please be careful with the pin. The trigger group pivots out.

Youtube has videos of owners of other Tristar shotguns doing this. They have a different model, but the procedure is still the same.

Here's a short video of me just trying to shoot fast and these are the loads I used. Cycled them fine. Didn't break in with high brass just polished the action a bit.

If the raptor had a sporting stock instead of the pistol grip would that change its 922r compliance?

What kind of parts have to be American made? Sights. The bolt for the stock. Recoil pad. Retaining pins would those count?
