Super-affordable semi-auto 20g options?

So my wife is in love with her old bolt action 16g shotgun and she likes but doesn't love any of my pump action 12g guns because they have a bit too much recoil for her. I'm thinking a semi-auto would be great for her so she can have a quick follow up (not that she needs it. She's a dead-eye with the old Sears and Roebuck bolt action 16g) and not much recoil...but I want to steer clear of the 16 just because of ammo availability and cost.

I'm leaning towards a 20 in semi...

What are the options out there that are in the less than 500 dollar range? I know, that's not much money at all, but its not going to be used often and I don't even know if she'll like it...

I believe the Stoeger semi auto 20 guage rifles sometimes go on sale for $269 from Bass Pro.

Take a look at Franchi 720's. They offer a waterfowl, upland game, and competition version. Gas operated so recoil is light.

Today I totally scored a Remington 11-48 Sportsman model for 300 out the door. Remington also made this model in a 20 gage. The best thing about it is its a C&R!

From 1949 to 1968, they made the 11-48 in 12, 16, 20, 28, .410 gauges.

The 11-48s are fun guns. I've got a .410 and a 12g. They are a bit different than most SA shotguns since the whole barrel moves during recoil but, again they are great shooters.

Look in the Private Firearms Sale section, there's one for sale in there right now for $350.

Remington 1100 and Franchi 48 are decent bets in that price range. I'd go for the Remington, but I'm an 1100 fan - my 1100 20 guage is a soft, sweet shooter. I don't think Stoeger makes the 2000 in 20 gauge.

I got a used Remington mod 11 20ga for $150 in 2004. I got a 12ga version for $125 last year.

Ha, ended up with a model 48 Sportsman in 16g. She originally wanted a 16 and I tried and tried and tried to talk her out of it because 20 ammo is so much easier to find and cheaper...but we found ourselves at Cabela's in Reno yesterday and they had one on the rack that looked to be in good shape, so I bought it. It should be here tuesday or wednesday. $300 delivered. Not bad, not amazing, but it made her happy!
