if its a pump then yes it is legal in CA. the only thing you can do to a pump that would be illegal in CA is make the OAL less than 26 inches.

Yeah I really did not plan on buying anything for a while because I am on a budget right now. I always wanted a pistol grip shotgun and it seems like they will be banned soon.

pump action guns are not going to be banned by any of the laws that are going through the process now. what will be banned that is a "shotgun" is guns like the Circuit Judge and other .410's that also fire .45LC. if you want a good quality pump action, get a mossy 500 when they are on sale at big 5 then build it up any way you want.

Instead of starting my own thread I thought I'd bump this old one.

So does anyone have any additional info on ASI pump shotguns?

Buds has them for sale for $179.

Machines break and degrade (Does not matter how much they cost); when they do you need to look for replacement parts or look into warranty.

You will have trouble with upgrades or replacements. The Turkish shotguns being import are not very interchangeable.

Bounce a ball in Football that's a fumble. Baseball, no bouncing at all. Bounce a ball in Hockey, well that's a mandatory drug test right there...

It looks almost exactly like the Weatherby PA-459 / PA-459 TR, which is also a Turkish import but backed by Weatherby. I'll get the Weatherby if I were you, if something were to go wrong, you'll know at least you'll have a California based company to help you with it.

All of these budget shotguns tend to have rough actions, stiff triggers, and cheap/thin stocks.

The maverick 88 is the best of the bunch, it's basically a Mossberg 500 for $200. As a plus it will take most Mossberg 500 accessories, the only thing that is mechanically different is the location of the safety.

Gotta say that you get what you pay for. Probably a better idea to get one of those CZ Turkish shotguns. That way you get a CZ warrenty at least.
