    Mossberg 500 dropping shells.

I bought a Mossberg 500 brand spanking new recently and I'm having trouble chambering rounds. When I pump the gun to chamber a shell multiple shells are released from the magazine tube and the either fall out the bottom or jam. And it's not that my extractor isn't working properly, it seems more likely that the little retainer for the shells in the magazine isn't working. I'm not short shucking it either. I also have very thorough cleaning practices, everything is properly lubed and cleaned. Anyone every heard of this? Should I take it back to the dealer and ask the. What's going on? Don't feel like this should be an issue with a shotgun right out of the box.

I'd take it back to the dealer and ask for either a NEW replacement or a refund. It's not going to be anything off of their hide, since they'll just send it back to Mossberg (or their jobber) and get another one.

      Mossberg fix.

Had the exact same problem. Defective out of the box. The problem is the hook part of the cartride interupter is not curved enough to catch the shell. I emailed Mossberg Customer Support, and they sent me a new cartidge interupter. Did not have to send the gun to them. In the meantime, if you are in a hurry to use it, you can remove the cartridge interupter, clamp the hook part in a vise with some duct tape, and ever so slightly bend the hook.
