    sxs question

    I bought a USSG/Baikal 220 20 ga 20".......

Basically I'm pleased.....though, with the internal cocking mechanism, it is still a bit stiff to open. I've been shooting it at the range with different slugs at 50 yds.....did pretty well with the Truball....though convergence is off about 10 inches for the left barrel to the right at that distance....no biggy.

Now my question....after putting 50 slugs through.....while cleaning it, I noticed underneath the barrel....at the proximal end....there is a hole designed in where the barrels are welded together. Well.....emanating from that orifice was a 4-5 inch thin piece of solder coming out of the hole and loose. I could pull out 3 inches of it before it broke off and the remainder I can hear sloshing inside when I turn the barrel upside down (probably 2" left). I was wondering what your thoughts were on this solder that came loose and was coming out the hole between the 2 barrels and if it has great significance or nada.

The solder and center rib are what keep the barrels tightly together.

I would take it back and have it fixed correctly, not to mention making sure it's re-regulated.

Not a very simple job, and not cheap.

You may want to ask about shooting slugs in your SxS while you're at it.

            Yeah needs repair.

I hear ya on the cocking mechanism, but that is to be expected on new shotguns like this. My Stoeger loosened up after about 40 rounds but even before that I had taken it apart and polished a few spots which helped. Even so I can't just break it open with gravity and get it to cock, my hope is over time it will, supposedly they do. I can break, flick my wrist a bit and it will cock

            Close enough for now

Hope you can get it fixed under warranty quickly, it sucks when you have a gun in repair.

Spoke with EAA and sent pictures....they said the string of narrow solder is inconsequential...not structural....just pull it out

As to the convergence.....I will find out if there is a set distance that convergence occurs......I think it is usually 40 yds.....I tested at 50 yds so it would be expected for the left barrel to cross to the right some.....

How about one of the 12 gage laser sighting shells? Block the barrels up and mark rack barrel where it hits a target do a bore sight until you see if they do come together at some point.

Thats a neat idea ....if you had 2 of those ....could go out at dark and see where they converge.
