Best ammo for beginner at range?

    Hey guys,

I finally bought a shotgun after thinking about getting a rifle (Rifle will be my second purchase), but I was wondering what is good ammo for shooting at the range with some friends. I think a couple walmarts near me stock ammo, not
sure if in stock atm, but I'm thinking about buying online.
I'm looking for best bang for your buck in terms of overall quality vs price per shell.
    I own a mossberg 500

    Thanks

    What are you shooting at?

Get some birdshot and call it a day... Move on to slugs if you have any bowling pins. >

You'll be limited by the types of shot shells allowed by the range. Some requires slug or buck shots of certain size, others will require only bird shots on patterning boards etc.

Check with the range you're going to be shooting at, then buy the appropriate ammo.

I'll shoot pretty much anything except for Winchester. My 870 will NOT extract those shells and I have to mortar almost every single one.
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

Get the cheapest ammo you can find and call it a day. Shotgun ammo usually isn't all that different from cheap to cheap to cheaper. Buy cheap and buy plenty.

If you're shooting at clays, go to Wal-Mart and buy a value pack of 100.
