Checked out a Rem 870 (26" rifle barrel) in camo at a local shop and notice the action hung up badly. Seemed the bolt was hanging up on something. Only tightened as the pump reached near open and return. Any one experience anything like this?

An excellent read on the breaking in of a new Remington 870:

It's been along time (like 35 + years) but what I did with my Wingmaster was to break the gun, clean and re-oil the works. Then while watching TV, (half hour show as I remember), I just dry fired and recycled the action while watch television.
*That smoothed up the action just fine and didn't hurt a thing!Comment

I can understand the need to "break-in" the action, but this gun just feels wrong. I've been shooting pumps for over 40 years and have never felt anything like this.
I bought an 870 a month ago (same but non camo) and the action is very smooth (cleaned and oiled after purchase).
Volksgrenadier- Great article!
Update: Went by the same shop today and looked at a glock 22 (just for discussion purposes) and noticed the action was really tight. Broke it down and noticed a layer of "rust colored something" along the slide. Factory grease???Comment

OP - Try another 870 there. Maybe this one has too much factory grease/gunk..Originally posted by jmonte35Disagree. Been trying to teach lewdogg21 how to hunt. It's like trying to teach Steve Wonder how to see. Not sure we're ever going to get there.Comment
