    Benelli m4 upgrades?

I finally decided to upgrade my Benelli m4, but I am not sure if I am going to violate that stupid 922r law.

All I want to do is change the charging handle to a wider one and shorten the LOP with a shorter NON collapsible stock. The bolt release was already changed to the GG&G bolt release for comfort. Is this okay in not violating 922r?

    thanks in advance

Not an expert here, but I think you are GTG. I believe the 922r is only concerned with increasing the shell capacity.

      Wrong.

922R deals with the number of foreign and US parts on an import long gun. The standard fixed stock Benelli M4 model 11707 as imported contains 13 parts, which are governed by 922(r) provisions. Prior to performing any modifications, you must FIRST reduce that parts count to ten (10), after which the parts count may NOT exceed 10 import parts from that list, while simultaneously sporting any governed modifications

Checkout carriercomp's FAQ for more info. Google for your particular model's list of 922R parts. It will show which are the major parts of the M4. The charging handle is not one of them so you can change that without issue, however the stock is a major part so you cannot change that without also changing two more parts to US manufacture. You can also change the trigger hammer, disconnector and the tube follower. Those would probably be the cheapest additional parts to get. I will be changing the stock, tube and follower on mine.

This simply isn't true. By your standard you couldn't put a different recoil pad on without violating 922. The modifications you intend to make would need to make the firearm "non-sporting" and not importable in that configuration before 922 applies.

          WRONG

you would only be violating 922R if you made the M4 "non-sporting" ie increasing shell capacity

charging handle and stock are merely replacing stock parts with like aftermarket parts

nothing about a shorter stock (fixed) or bigger charging handle affects the "sporting" characteristics

Sorry for being a little out of context. That portion was a quote from a 922R compliance FAQ from another site and not "my standards". I should have clarified further.

OP...you're fine with the mods you've made to the gun.
