Flash light on top?

I have a Mossberg 500 with rail on top. Do you guys advise for me to put a flashlight on top...since scope will not be so much in use anyways for a shotee. I could be wrong. I know people usually put flashlight in the bottom ( handguard). any advise?

I think mounting the light on top might interfere with your sight picture

Depends on what you're doing. For a breaching gun, a top mounted light is preferred by many because a barrel light will be too close to the lock/door to be effective. Having a light backed off a bit to illuminate the breach point makes more sense and there's no better place to mount one than on top of the receiver. For anything other than a breach gun, handguard/barrel mount is sufficient. That's just from experience - others may have other ideas.

Put a nice red dot / reflex sight on there. Something like a C-More



Put the light on the bottom or opposite side from your face.

Gotta keep in mind that if it is on top, there is going to be a huge shadow underneath the weapon when its dark.

I use an Eotech holosight on top of my 870 and it is awsome. I put a shurefire front end on it and it's a great home defense weapon.
