"Texas ranger" and a "JC Higgins"

So a few years back my brother worked for a company that cleaned out houses, the owner of a house passed away the son told my brother whatever he finds in the attic he can keep, there were two old break shotguns, one was a "texas ranger" and the other a JC Higgins 1011 .410. any one know much about them?

This is the underside of the JC's barrel, anyone know what those mean? or date to?

Only markings on the guns are those, besides the JC has "model 940" or something on the right side of the receiver
