I'm new to Calguns and the world of firearms. I've always been a car - motorcycle guy , but the thugs in my neighborhood and our government have lately encouraged me to become a gun enthusiast. For my first shotgun, I picked up a Mossberg 500 at Big 5 . After less than 300 rounds one of the forearm pins fell out. I found the pin and put it back in but of course, now it keeps falling out. I've been back and forth with Mossberg
and have not been excited about the options they initially offered, but we'll see. I know this is a common problem, so I thought maybe the repair I came up with might help someone else. I have access to a lathe, but any machine shop should be able to do this for you for next to nothing. I made two small aluminum discs ( of course you could use any material) .. .193 x .060. I then put a drop of green wicking grade (penetrating) loctite in each hole to help tighten the pin and retain the discs. I tapped the discs in and everything appears to be fine. I'll let you guys know in a few weeks how it's holding up.
