Am I asking too much for my shotgun?

Had my shotgun in the classifieds here for a little while here and didn't think I was asking that much for it but I haven't gotten many hits. This is the actual link http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=748786

I'm not trying to advertise my post here I'm just giving you a reference point with some pictures. I'm asking $550 for my gun with wood furniture, a soft case, and some ammo. I paid $650 for this gun alone last year before the hype not including the extras. It retails for $732 on mossberg's website and thought for sure it would sell fast at that price. Maybe I'm still asking too much and just don't see it. Any input would help I am trying to get rid of it, unfortunately.

I am not looking for a shotgun, so here is an un biased opinion.

I would try to sell it again with a brand new add. Your add is kinda confusing with the trade deal. Also, it still says you want 650 in the body of the add, even though the price in the header is 550.
Extras are cool, but dont add a lot of value.
The negative I trader is hurting you also, I would stay away from you because of that. Only one itrader and it is negative. Yikes!

Here is how selling stuff works. Put it in at a price, and if it doesnt sell, drop it 25 bucks a week (if you have time) until it sells. Works every time.

I think for many, $550 is too much for an HD pump. Those people would lump your gun in with the 500s and Expresses, and in that company yours is overpriced. But for someone specifically looking for a good combat shotgun and understands what that is I would think that $550 is an ok price.

I bet if you offered it for $500 it would get sold. Or maybe you do another ad for $550 and do some price drops if it doesn't sell. I think your just a bit at the high end for a used pump gun, but not that far off.

I agree with JohnnyMtn. Personally I would rather get a new Supernova for that price or 2 used 870s.

It is a free market, you can list anything at any price. It just depends how quickly you want to get it sold/traded.

Yes your asking too much and referencing retail is pointless because no one pays retail prices.

A fair used price from my experience would be $100 off the sticker price you paid BEFORE tax and dros.

If I were looking to buy used (which I'm not), the mention of a "retail price" is a huge turnoff for me, especially when you list the paid-for street price that is less than the MSRP. If I wanted to know MSRP, I can look it up.

As far as modifications/aftermarket parts, don't expect to get much for it. For example, if I wanted to buy your shotgun, I wouldn't care for the wood furniture. If I don't intend to use the wood furniture, why would I pay the extra for it? By including it and keeping the price higher, that begs me to ask "how much without?" Same thing with ammo -- what if I don't like the ammo you include? I don't like to pay for something I won't use, whether or not you use that to pad the pricing.

One major turnoff is usage of the term "firm". Only use it if you never intended to sell it or you can sit on it for a while. But if you continually bump the ad or lower the price, then take the "firm" out. We all know everything is negotiable.

IMO, your iTrader feedback is putting buyers off. That, on top of an "OK" price is not good.

Thanks for all the feedback! It helps alot. And honestly the only reason I have negative feedback is because I left negative feedback on a previous buyer who got sour that I called him out on trying to weasel out of a deal. I have bought and sold about 4 guns and have not had a single problem with any of them, they just didnt leave any feedback. I will definitely remake the ad. Thanks for the help!

You are asking what most places sell it for new. MSRP means nothing. I would put a price of around $400-450.

I do not know much about shotguns. I do know that it is a buyers market again. Like others have said it is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I have an ad going and the responses have been light. If I don't have some action soon I will just put them back in the safe.

I am going to say the negative Itrader is hurting you. On principle, I do not deal with low or negative Itrader sellers, and only one rating and it is negative? Not looking good.
