6Shot Load for Trap

Just bought Winchester 100 round value pack 6shot 12gauge for trap shooting. Just read online that the range will only allow 7.5, 8, or 9 for trap. What's the difference using 6shot loads? I dont hunt btw, can I still get away using a 6 shot load?

6 shot has more down range energy so clubs don't want them around. Less pellets mean larger gaps in your pattern. You are much better off with 7.5 or 8 but I guess 6 will do.

majority of the ranges are designed to operate for 7.5 to 9. 6 shot pallets will fly further. The least is you getting kicked out of the range and never to return. The worst is that you hurt someone, ended up in jail facing charges........

Use that load for hunting, keep it out of ranges!!

If you decide to shoot Trap at Livermore Rod & Gun Club the Trap range faces the shooting range. With a #6 shot you would be peppering the cars in the parking lot... Some people are "funny" about that...

This type of range layout can cause real problems when people violate trap range rules on shot sizes. This chart gives you an idea what happens with larger shot. You quickly exceed the safety margins used to design many trap ranges.

Thanks for the info, I seriously didn't realize it until after I got home. I have only shot trap at Chabot.

That's a hunting load for large birds. It doesn't take but one pellet to kill a clay target more pellets better chances of competing .
