can't pull the charging handle out on benelli

Every time I take it apart I have to use pliers. I'm never able to twist and pull. Had two friends try it and no go. Anyone have this problem?

I have the same issue with both my M2 and Super Sport. I guess our hands aren't strong enough to just yank out so I also go w/ the cloth over the handle and pliers technique.

I tried lubricating as well but no luck....

...I guess I rather have it snug than to have the fit be loose and moving around.

When I first got the benelli m1, I took it apart and the charging handle just fell out on it's own, didn't even touch the damn thing at all. But when the next time I took it apart again year later or so, the charging handle will not come off. On my M4 it's always been with the pliers.


Well I find out a lot of people have this problem even on other shotguns.

Had the same problem with my montefeltro silver the shoe lace trick worked like a charm for me

^^^Do tell? What's the shoelace technique? Is it as simple as tie around and pull?

You might or might not like the look but Daves metalworks makes a round charging handle to replace the factory

Mine works like a champ and is easy on the hands

I spoke with members of Team Benelli at the 2012 shot show

I have an ejection issue with some light loads and they gave a tip they do on the competition guns.

They use 400,600 and 800 grit sand paper inside the bolt where the inertia spring sits to clean up the machine / tooling marks.

I wonder if polishing the bolt tip with 600/800 grit paper and or croakis cloth would help with bolt removal.

^^^Nice! Big fan of DMW Benelli accessories. My M2 Field (yours look like the tactical model) is just stock. If I get into 3Gun, definitely will invest in the DMW charging handle and mag extension (7 + 1)....but I'm not sure if I'll ever cure myself of the need to break clays.

I had a Benelli M2 rebuilt by Taran Tactical Innovations for three-gun. I was having cycling problems with it even with buckshot and slugs. He replaced all my DMW accessories with super light Nordic Components stuff and instantly the problem was solved.

This guy knows his crap. From him, Benelli's DO NOT LIKE to be heavy. DMW products, while robust and well-made, are steel and weigh a ton. The Nordic stuff is half the weight and just as tough.

Stay light on the inertial-driven shotguns.

With your Benelli, you can set it up for three-gun and still break clays with it. I run a 21" vent rib barrel with a 9+1 Nordic Components mag tube, now. Good for skeet AND three-gun!!

And with the bolt handle...the easiest way I've found to pop them out is with a quick twist of a big flat-bladed screwdriver wrapped in a cloth to keep it from marring the bolt. Out the blade flat against the bolt under the charging handle and twist the driver.

Thanks for info ThreeGunFlyer. I was not aware of the weight difference but very good to know. Briley also makes quality stuff. Would you say quality and weight of Briley and Nordic are equivalent? Just curious because I personally favor a minimalist/light as possible setup for any and all of my equipment (aside from the weight of the gun itself as I am a SIG owner).

Regarding Taran Butler, agreed that he's a stud. Had a chance to talk to him about building/modifying my M2 but then I went the way of the clay.

My M4 comes out with a twist and a pull no problem. Getting a KZ enlarged bolt handle sometime this week.

Never used the Briley mag tubes, so I can't comment as to that. I'd say maybe you could find the weight info in the specs section on each website? I don't know for certain.

TTI didn't have their new M2 bolts in stock when I had them do my M2, so I'm waiting for that part still. When that's done, I'll have the full TTI package on my M2, my G35, and my TR1 Ultimate rifle he built for me (which is AWESOME, by the way...kicks like my daughter's Red Ryder and is so freakin' accurate it ain't even funny).
