    Houge overmold stock

I have a 590A1 and the stock is just a little to long but I'm almost certain I don't want a 12" LOP stock. I was wondering if anyone knew the difference of the LOP of both the standard Mossberg stock and the standard Houge overmold.

I was also toying with the idea of keeping the Mossberg stock and sawing off about an inch from the buttpad and installing a Limbsaver pad. Which I'd have to order the correct one and measure the difference between the Limbsaver and the stock Mossberg pad before I make a determination of the required amount of material to remove to get about an inch shorter.

    Thanks in advance.

The factory Mossberg stock LOP should be 14 inches. If you feel the Hogue 12" one would be too short (and most people feel it is either perfect for body armor/squared stance or just a TAD too short) then consider the Aimpro 13" lop one. It's made by Hogue and looks exactly like their 12" one but only an inch longer.

I have a 12" Hogue on one of my s/g's. It quick to shoulder and...short, so a squared up stance is required. I had a slip on pad and just for kicks tried it over the Hogue and it puts the lop at 13 inches. Haven't shot that combo yet but it will be interesting to see what kind of felt recoil I get. However, I am on target faster with the 12 lop stock and I like the maneuverability.

        Thanks for the replies

I'm just going to order the 12" LOP Houge and if its to short then I'll just give it to my mom since she just bought a Mossberg 500 and buy the Aimpro or add a grind to fit limbsaver pad.

I was gonna say....if you take off your factory recoil pad and shoulder the gun then it would give you a good idea on what the Aimpro 13 LOP would feel like.
