#3 Steel for Trap/Skeet?

Opportunity to buy Fiocchi #3 Steel Shot for around 6.5 cents shipped. 7.5 shot is about 9 cents shipped.

Never shot trap or skeet but figured I'd get ammo and try. Have a 930 JM Pro I will be using.

Scoun is correct....#3 is a duck hunting load. You want 7.5 or 8 shot target or light hunting loads

Also, if you can get 7.5 shot @ .09 a round ....I'll take 20 cases to start

How are you calculating 9 cents a round ? Thats $2.25 a box of 25

Put me down for 10-20k rounds of 7.5 if you can really get those kinds of prices.

#3 shot will get you a life time ban at my local club. Not a good idea to shoot clays with.

Listing Federal Prem 2.5" #7.5 1 1/8 for $193 for 2,500 before shipping. Called and they said its a typo. Same company is listing Fiocchi steel #3 for $13 for box of 250. Looks like some goof added a 0 to their entire listing.

What are the laws about having to honer the listed price???

Am I understanding this correct that $193 gets you 250 rounds? That comes out to be $19.25 per box of 25. Are those gold plated pellets? The $13 per box of #3 steel sounds about right.

Since I reload, I haven't paid too much attention to retail pricing but I hope target loads NEVER get to $20.00 per box.

#7.5, #8 & #9

On Trap and Skeet you are limited to #7.5, #8 & #9 shot at 3 Dram 2 3/4" shells. Some places require low base only but I have not seen this enforced. Some places are going from 3 Dram to 1150 FPS. On Trap I usually use #8 and #7.5 & #8 on doubles. #9 on Skeet.

After reloading a whole bunch of shotshells, the saving aren't really all that much. In this economic climate, I am having a hard time getting costs of lead and powder under 10 cents a shell each. After putting them together, yes they have much better quality and performance than say a Winchester bulk pack, but it isn't very much cheaper at the same time.

The benefits of reloading isn't so much cost saving for shotshells, but more about creating a custom load that you have confidence in using. Also reloading shotshells bring better understanding to how shotguns work and will give you more education to properly select the right shell for the job.

This is true for standard 12/20 gauge loads. Other gauges can save quite a bit more.

Yes. I suspect you still do not understand the pricing. It is hard to find a case of shells (10 boxes of 25 shells) for anywhere near $45.
