Wolf 12ga, anyone check this stuff out yet?

I bought a few boxes. Looks like low steel painted to look like brass, the shot tops are not crimped closed, they have a cap on them with the Wolf head logo. The slugs have the wolf head logo on them too.

I hope I dont get extraction problems with the steel, we will see.

Was wondering if anyone had experience with it yet.

I've ran the Wolf Slugs without a problem. I know its just me, but it seems like the slugs shoot better for me than other slugs I've tried like Federal or Winchester.

You shouldn't have any issues. The crimp is a roll crimp with a overshot card to hold the slug in the hull.

Only problem I ran into is they tend to be a touch longer then US made shells ( star crimped or rolled ).

Makes my 8 shot guns only hold 7, but no issue beyond that.

I wouldn't pay that much for low brass 00 buck.

                    Here's the Wolf slug ammo..http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/acce...se-detail.html

Sorry, haven't used them CW. Hope to get a report once you give them a try. What type of shotgun are you going to use them in?

It was at Turners for $5.49 a 5 pack slug or 00. A buck less then anything else. I didnt realize it was low brass until I got home. Then I did some research and I think its not even brass, its probably brass paint on steel. I only bought a few boxes to check it out.

I couldnt find any reviews of it while in the store, they didn't have wifi and my signal was pisspoor.

It's a moss 500 security. I am only worried about poor extraction and what happens to the painted metal base if it sits in a hot chamber. So I may heat up the shotgun with cheap birdshot, load the wolf and let it sit a bit. I want to see if this stuff will gum up my chamber.

I might be wrong here but I think low steel low might be better then high steel. The main issue with using steel is it expands against the chamber walls and doesnt relax like brass. The more steel you have the harder it will be to extract since the more steel you have grabbed on to the chamber wall.

They say there is no real difference between high and low brass now, except the high brass tends to be used in shells that also have higher quality powder and projectiles. So high brass is sorta an indication of quality beyond what is needed. I don't reload, but low brass is better for that from what I am reading, I have no idea why.

Thanks to all who have used it and responded. I had never seen it before so I wasn't willing to buy a huge quantity without some reviews.

Wolf Shotgun ammo is good to go.. It's not even Russian ammo... Its made in Germany. Second the bases are not painted and won't stick in the chamber. The plastic hulls would melt before the base got stuck. You are mixing up what people think happens with their AR-15's when they run Wolf Steel case ammo in them. Most of that is arm chair gunsmithing.

Low brass is a term for lighter cheaper loads - Like bird shot. It just doesn't cycle well in Semi auto guns like Saiga's or Benelli's . Lowbrass and Highbrass don't have the same meaning they did 60 years ago.

Takes this for what it's worth. I have seen WOLF sold locally but after reading this, I would pass. I do, however, run WOLF 7.62x39 and .223 without any issues.

Article states both ammo and operator error, but without the ammo leading to a squib, it wouldn't have happened to begin with.

Low Brass, High Brass, it is all a marketing scheme to make you think there is more powder in a high brass casing vs. a low brass - where in all reality it doesn't make a difference.

This mattered more when we were using paper hulls, but with plastic hulls, the marketing of high brass shells is like selling a digital camera based on megapixels - worthless information and not how to properly gauge shotshells and camera performances.

I don't get it. Is it because plastic is more durable than paper?

Please break down your response with more details. You are confusing me.
