New Browning A5 Owners?

was just wondering if anyone else here was running with the new Browning A5. Just picked up the A5 Hunter in mid May and absolutely love it. Very gentle on the recoil, points nicely just like my old sweet sixteen. Have ran about 1k rounds through it so far without a hiccup.

What length barrel did you get? Any issues cycling with light loads?

Have you shot any heavy loads through it? I'm considering getting one, but I'm worried about the light weight. I would imagine it would be brutal.

I bought the 28 inch model. The recoil on standard loads has been negligible and has had no issues with cycling on light or heavy loads. Heavy load recoil was about on par with 12ga trap loads out of an over under. If either of you ate considering one, you're more than welcome to try mine out.

What're they running, retail?

I'm a HUGE fan of the Auto-5 (own half a dozen of them). I'm glad to hear the A-5 is a soft-shooting auto, but I kinda wish Browning had left the hump off of it. It just ain't the same thing!

I picked mine up for $1559. Wound up with a rebate from Browning making it $1400. Oddly part of the reason I love it is because of the humpback. It operates on a different system but I think lives up to the Auto 5 name.

In the Browning supplied hardcase. Comes with 3 choke tubes, stock adjustments and a gun lock.





Beautiful Walnut on it. Fit and finish is on par with my Sweet Sixteen if not a little better.

It ain't the old long-recoil action, that's for sure. But for Browning to call the A5's action "innovative" in any way is disingenuous, in my opinion. The action is essentially the inertia-driven mechanism that has been found on Benelli M2 shotguns for 20 years.

looks sweet all glossy like that. I almost bought one but opted for an m2 instead due to more barrel options.
